Examples of recent pottery mostly made and fired at the Maine College of Art & Design while holding adjunct and studio tech positions for the Ceramics Dept. I am incredibly grateful to the faculty, staff, and students whom I got to work with, assist and instruct in my time there. Especially glad to have worked with Dept. Chair, Patrick Coughlin, who helped me grow as a teacher and mentor tremendously.
The works represented in this gallery are a combination of wheel thrown and hand built pieces-and-parts. Working with both porcelain and stoneware the wares are denied in either Terra Sig or a black slip and then soda fired to cone 6. Using thin strips of hardwood, I would periodically stoke before spraying soda and then continue stoking to reduction cool the wares.
